I'm not 100% satisfied with Aimp and may replace it if I find something better. I'm glad for all the other recommendations though. But when I do, Aimp is basically what I use.

I almost never play music on my computer anymore. I couldn’t reset the default program for text files in Windows 10 from Wordpad to Notepad using the given directions of selecting the default app in Settings. Anyway, it's so much easier to play music on my phone, either on the phone itself, or a Bluetooth speaker, or my car's audio, or my Bluetooth headphones, than it is on the computer.

I use Spotify, and on Android I would use Poweramp, and on iOS I just use the built-in iTunes (but I use the Cesium frontend as it's dark and has queueing features). The idea is that I have this pocketable thing the size of a cassette tape with an HD screen on it that can store thousands of songs. Winamp supports playback of many audio (MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, MOD, XM, S3M, IT, MIDI, etc) and video types (AVI, ASF, MPEG. Whether it's Android or iOS, it doesn't really matter. Nullsoft Winamp is a fast, flexible, high-fidelity media player for Windows. What I have done is, I've shifted the job of playing music from my computer to my phone. Though iTunes' performance leaves a lot to be desired, so maybe it should be on the faster machine. I know iTunes is not the best, but I have an iPhone and I need iTunes installed somewhere to manage my iPhone, which is why it's not on the desktop. On the PC, I use Aimp on the desktop and iTunes on the laptop. I didn't use Winamp's media library when it got added, and resented players that used them for the longest time.

I admit, I haven't found a full replacement for Winamp on the computer. I don't feel like there is any better alternative currently, even AIMP comes close. If you want the DSP Plug-in to automatically start and connect to SHOUTcast server after you start Winamp player, also check Auto Connect box. ITunes (old version) - I don't support this one bit.ĮDIT 4 - UPDATE: It's been a month and I've gone back to Winamp. To configure the last setting, hit the Encoder tab, choose your favourite media Encoder Type (usually MP3), leave the default values for Encoder Settings and hit on Connect button.
